You know I have to say, I still marvel at the extraordinary changes that occur when ordinary ingredients are fashioned over a heat source for a specified amount of time.  For me it started out with marshmallows, hot dogs and shish kabobs over a camp fire and progressed to propane and charcoal.  I remember the first propane grill my mom bought back in the late 1970′s and there was something so special about cooking outdoors we would do it often even during the New England winters. 

The fact that we were always using grills provided me with the reasonable deduction that the higher the quality of components not only the more even and usable the heat but also the greater the longevity of the grill.  This brings me to the review of the Broil King Signet 90.  This grill is a high quality grill that I would find to be the natural progression of most grilling enthusiasts when the playing around with cheap grills has become mundane and the quest for a serious grill with high quality parts and performance is the objective.

One of the first features that I found to be a noticeable upgrade in quality and longevity is the stainless steel 40,000 BTU dual-tube burner system (3 individual dual-tube burners).  This system will undoubtedly hold up much better to the moisture emitting propane flame for years of corrosion free use.  When you think about the 400 square inch primary cooking space being heated by 40,000 BTU’s of heat that is one heck of a hot grill when you want it to be.  The Broil King Signet 90 also comes with 235 square inches of porcelain coated warming rack which gives you 635 square inches of space to work with under the therma-cast aluminum hood which Broil king decided to wrap in stainless steel for eye appeal.  The therma-cast oven is no joke and really keeps the heat inside the grill which works out great for indirect cooking and makes slow cooking easy.   Underneath the heavy duty cast iron cooking grates is the stainless steel flav-r-wave cooking system that vaporizes cooking juices for that over the flame outdoor taste only quality grilling can achieve.


Some other necessary quality appointments are the 180 degree sensi-touch control knobs for easy burner control,  a accu-temp thermometer for easy heat reading,  sure-lite electronic ignition system for first time reliable lighting and a premium rotisserie kit included great for holiday birds and roasts.  What’s a rotisserie kit without a rotisserie burner and Broil King included a 15,000 BTU burner just for rotisserie.  This grill also has the ever convenient 10,000 BTU side burner so you can sweat the onions and mushrooms to go on top of that burger while you cook them.

The Signet 90 also features an enclosed storage cabinet with stainless steel cabinet doors and control panel.  It has a pretty serious look with all of its stainless steel and quality epoxy paint.  I am sure with proper care and maintenance it will keep up its good looks for quite a long while.

All in all I believe the Broil King Signet 90 is the grill you graduate to when quality, performance, and longevity are what you are after.  It’s the grill for those that are tired of replacing a cheaper grill every couple years and they are ready for a commitment so to speak.  You could spend a lot more than the cost of this grill and not get half of the quality or customer support that Broil King offers which makes it an astounding value in today market.  I would say this grill is a serious winner if you are ready to commit and spend the dough.
